Unity Bank and Trust Company is established.

June 30, 1968

Founded by Marvin Gilmore and Donald Sneed, it is located initially at 420 Warren Street. The first predominantly African-American-owned bank in Massachusetts, it subsequently moves to 2343 Washington Street. The bank is placed in receivership in 1971, then closes and has its assets are transferred to the newly-established, minority-owned OneUnited Bank in 1982.*
